Mission Statement
My purpose is to advocate for the implementation of Green Hotels, or hotels that employ environmentally friendly standards through their management, business practices, building standards, efficient use of energy and water, and services provided for the use of the customer. In order for these types of standards to be implemented, I aim to inform two separate audiences- The Hoteliers and the Customers of hotels- on how they can implement these standards, why it is important, and about the economic/environmental benefits that result from these standards.
My position derives from the importance of converting to these green standards because of the harm and damage that the growing tourism and hotel industry contributes to the natural environment. Not only is it the right thing to do for the sustainability of our global environment, but “going green” also produces many other benefits. Some of these benefits include a surplus of funds in hotels because of the growing consumer demand of green hotels and the reduction of energy/water bills, health benefits resulting from the decrease of harmful pollution and waste, and the contribution to local communities.
